Omkareshwar Temple Madhya Pradesh



Omkareshwar is approx. 70 km from Indore, on the banks of holy river Narmada. Road from Indore is beautiful as it pass through ghat section.

Actually there are 2 jyotirlinga temple if one has to believe by the priest. one is main Omkareshwar temple and other one is mamleshwar temple which is in the town near to cable bridge. 2 temple together makes a one jyotirlinga temple.
Main Omkareshwar temple is on the other side of river narmada. one can go there by boat or by cable strained pedestrian bridge. However later is advisable as a easy walkable path.

Omkareshwar main temple having small sanctum area. However darshan is smooth and there is no long queue when we visited. (most popular travel websites)

If time permit you can visit the maheshwar (temple and narmada ghat), roughly 1.30 hrs drive from omkareshwar towards mandu. Maheshwar is also famous for maheshwari hand made saree.
